We started off with pattern cutting in the first week. Before sewing the sample jacket, we had to learn how to draft the patterns and the lining. We also had to document all the processes through a technical manual which included a working sketch, size specification sheet, costing sheet and lay plan, etc,

Drafting the actual pieces was quite easy. We had to trace off the block and then create patterns from it.

On Thursdays we don't get studio access so I decided to update my technical manual every Thursday as we were learning the jacket drafting and sewing process.

We learned how to draft a Collar and Rever from the front bodice. From this we got the top and under collar, facings and later on the lining.

The most important thing at this stage was to remember the 5cm seam allowance that had to be added to the front, back and sleeve pieces. The 5cm was then meant to be pressed up. The lining on the other hand had the standard 1cm seam allowance added to it,
