TREND : "A trend is what's hip or popular at a certain point in time. While a trend usually refers to a certain style in fashion or entertainment, there could be a trend toward warmer temperatures (if people are following trends associated with global warming)."

Trend analysis is a key element in the fashion industry. Keeping up with industry trend is important for creative growth.

Embroidery is the axis in Indian couture. To incorporate embroidery into designs, a lot of prior research needs to be done based on what's current and now. For example, today I was given a research project to look into the floral trends of 2018/19. Floral motifs are used time and again when designing "Lehenga's" and Saris but somehow manage to look unique every time.

It was the first time I extensively read through articles focused on only one element of the design. It was harder than I initially anticipated, because most trend forecasts focus on silhouette and colour before anything else.

“Colours are worked meticulously, fuse together, and revive photographic landscapes. They bring out shapes and motifs that are repeated or accumulated to create geometric assemblages. Flowers and geometries are encrusted as simple shapes, thrillingly blending together references to tell new stories. Hand held pencils draw refined lines, felt tips, brushes and flat tints, give birth to funny animals and landscapes with abstract backgrounds.”
