“In 3-D graphic design, rendering is the process of add shading, colour and lamination to a 2-D or 3-D wireframe in order to create life-like images on a screen.” (Rouse M, 2009)
Notes to future self:
What I’ve found is creating layers is only helpful on Photoshop. “Photoshop layers are like sheets of stacked acetate. You can see through transparent areas of a layer to the layers below. You move a layer to position the content on the layer, like sliding a sheet of acetate in a stack. You can also change the opacity of a layer to make content partially transparent.” (Photoshop User Guide) .However on Illustrator, when working with vectors it gets really annoying to go through all the layers just to get to the object you want to work on. Especially because I group objects and lock them to work on the rest of the file. Isolating an object with all its components takes so much longer in layers vs all components on a single layer.
As I’m using the programs I’m figuring out what works best for me. I used to think working on layers was the only way to work. It’s been fun experimenting on both the software’s. Of course, all of these lil hacks are references for me to come back to, just in case I forget (which I doubt)
