I feel like it's been an eternity since my last post. I've been so busy the past 2 weeks it's honestly been incredible! One of the things I worried about prior to joining this placement was being too busy or not being busy at all.

Thankfully, I've been given the opportunity to assist and work on multiple projects keeping myself at a happy pace. I've never felt overworked or bored out of my mind. The projects have been so diverse too, from working on a Cannes look, film looks, Post production promotional looks, showstoppers garments, etc. I've sketched on the spot, come up with ideas within minutes and also put my CAD knowledge into full use. I've gotten so much faster at the things I barely knew about before I joined.

I've also learned so many neat hacks. The newest thing I've been told about which is super helpful for digital sketches is CamScan. "This application provides a way on scanning handwritten notes and printed documents. It automatically detect the edge of the paper over a contrasting surface." It might not sound like much but it's a life saviour when you draw something perfect on paper and want to carry it forward digitally. Usually when you take a picture of an illustration and then try to remove backgrounds it turns out extremely patchy, but in this case the app puts the picture in proportion and also darkens the lines and whitens the background.

The reason I got introduced to this app is because we had to create digital folders of the hand drawn embroidery designs for the Mijwan show. They were so intricate, even if we traced them off on illustrator individually and replicated the designs it would've taken forever. However, with the help of the app we were able to place and tweak the design within minutes. ( It just occurred to me that this almost sounds like a paid promotion for the app! ) But truly, the app saved my life on multiple occasions.
