Yesterday, the 19th of April, The walk of Mijwan took place at J.W. Marriott, Juhu. I was given the golden opportunity to attend the show! As mentioned previously, the Mijwan show is a charity show for the Mijwan Welfare Society started by Shabana Azmi.

The only way to attend the show is to be a famous socialite, celebrity, sponsor or be a part of media. Basically, you have to be on the guestlist, since tickets aren’t sold for this event. However, the entire design team got invited to the event! The entire office inckuding the interns were told that MM has requested our presence. A lot of the team was backstage but I wasn’t appointed any work.

This show had been much awaited due to the star showstopper presence. Ranbir Kapoor who is the goodwill ambassador for Mijwan was joined by Deepika Padukone. The two of them are amongst the most famous actors in Indian cinema at the moment. The show always has the most esteemed celebrities invited to the event. The celebrities closest to Manish Sir, get styled by the label.

The best part for me was knowing the collection prior to the unveil. In fact Shabana Ma’am had visited our office to look at the garments and I was called to assist and show the Lehengas. (Which were ridiculously heavy by the way, some of them weight above 15 kilos). This is the first big designer’s show I’ve ever attended. I absolutely loved it. I was beyond star struck during the entire event. No one is allowed into the venue before the show starts, but since we were staff we were allowed in. Cocktails started before the show and all the guests arrived.

The show started off with speeches from the Mijwan Welfare Society. The actual show started off with a lineup of the female models followed by the male models. They all came out colour coordinated with the reds, blues and then finally the more embellished range. It was really interesting to see the menswear in person since a lot of the focus is usually on womenswear. I loved the styling, especially since the dupattas were draped differently, the hair was kept sleek and makeup was just the right amount without taking the focus away from the clothes. Ranbir and Deepika closed the show followed by the walk back down the ramp with Manish Malhotra.

I was stood at the back, however I had a really good view of the models as they took their turns to head back to the stage. My colleague and follow intern was taking pictures of the show, primarily detail shots for MM.

I managed to get a couple pictures from her, and including them here to give a better feel for the show.

And finally last but not the least, a picture of the showstoppers together!

It's still surreal that I got to attend the show, so grateful!
